Abstract

The sedimentary deposits in Ampoi River area. In the Metaliferi and Trascău Mountains, geomorphological areas including Ampoi Valley, the accumulation of sedimentary deposits began with Jurassic, since instead of basic magmatic rocks, as evidenced by the presence of sporadic intercalations of sandstones, limestone, shale and marl included in magmatic rocks. From the Lower Cretaceous rocks (predominantly flysch), and the Upper Cretaceous ( predominantly shelf), there are remarkable differences due to Middle Cretaceous Orogenesis, during which they were created the fundamental features of structural building in Metaliferi Mountains. Upper Cretaceous was more agitated than the Lower Cretaceous, due to geological processes that took place during this period, and important changes in paleogeography and structure of a large part of southern of Apuseni Mountains were produced. The geological structure of the area included five units (Bucium, Bedeleu, Trascău, Feneş and Căpâlnaş-Techereu), which are described in the paper.
