DEVELOPMENT OF THE HYDRO-ENERGY POTENTIAL OF THE PRUT RIVER BETWEEN ROMANIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA ON A SIG BASIS

It is proposed to use the hydraulic head as the drop at the Costesti-Stinca hydroelectric node with a value of 18 m for three low-drop hydro plants on the Prut River operating on a multiannual average flow (Q = 74.5 m3/s), which would produce about 10.5 MW. Downstream of the existing dam, a head difference up to 60 m could be utilized to install up to 20 mini-hydro plants, potentially generating about 60 MW. In total, upstream and downstream development could exceed 70 MW of electrical power.
